Photo of Entrance to USCG Station Siuslaw River, Florence, Oregon.
Station Siuslaw River is located three miles northwest of Florence, Oregon, and has been operational since 1917. The engineering and equipment building is the only remaining structure from the original station built in the 1930's; the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 57, reactivated in April 1988, meets the second Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in their meeting room on the second floor of this building. The Siuslaw River entrance breaks nearly every day of the year due to silting and river runoff. The entrance is quite narrow and can make for difficult bar crossings. The Station's main building includes admin/ops spaces, as well as berthing for duty section personnel and barracks. The boathouse is equipped to house two small boats and survival shop. The station currently is equipped with two 47' Motor Life Boats.
